“All That Shines” was created after researching 15th century European art, which often served as commentary on the fleeting nature and impermanency of life - melting candles, rotting fruit, and skulls were featured in art as reminders that life is temporary and short. This led me to ask myself “but what about the things in life that are permanent?”, and I thought about the things I have that existed before I was alive and probably will exist beyond my lifetime. Items that were passed down to me as well as treasure I’ve accumulated are all reminders of my own permanency and longevity.

“All That Shines” is composed of acrylic paint on 30x40 inch canvas.
