“See Me How I See Myself” is a self-portrait based on how I usually view myself - through mirrors, phone lenses, and reflections. This life-sized portrait shows me at my most comfortable, in an outfit I love, and how I see myself when both taking a picture of myself, as well as utilizing that picture to create art. The title is a genuine request and this piece alters the idea of the “gaze”, changing the narrative about who the viewer is, and who the model is - when taking a photo of myself in the mirror and then using that photograph to create a self portrait, I become both the subject and the “objectifier” on my own terms.

“See Me How I See Myself” is acrylic paint on 24x48 inch canvas.
